益子陶器市 Mashiko Toukiichi (Pottery Fair in Mashiko)

益子陶器市が１１月１日（金）から５日（火）まで、栃木県益子町で開催されている。
販売店約５０店舗の他約５００のテントが立ち並び、陶磁器や美術品、骨董、地元の農産物などが販売される。
テントでは陶芸作家さんや窯元の職人さん達と直接会話できるのも、楽しみのひとつ。
私が行った初日の１日は天気も良く、暖かな絶好の行楽日和。
今年は初めて高速バスを利用（秋葉原駅前ー笠間・益子間をつなぐ「やきものライナー」）。電車のように乗り換える必要もないので楽チン。
あらかじめお目当ての作家さんなど出店場所をチェックして、会場マップ片手に歩くのがおすすめだ。
会場には多くの外国人観光客の姿も見られ、日本の焼き物も注目されているのだなぁとあらためて思う。
会期中の益子の天気は不安定な日もあるようだが、日曜と火曜は良さそう？興味のある方は是非お出かけ下さい！
Mashiko Pottery Fair is being held in Mashiko-machi, Tochigi prefecture from Nov.1(Fri.) – Nov.5(Tue.), 2013.
This fair have been held twice a year since 1966, once in the spring during Japan’s Golden Week Holiday, and once in the fall around November 3rd. There are about 50 shops and as many as 500 tents set up selling pottery.
You can find not only Mashiko pottery but also other potteries, antiques or local freshly agricultural products in there.
It is really good chance to enjoy talking with young artists and local potters in the shops and tents.
I went there on the first day of the fair on the express bus called “Yakimono Liner”. It was warm fine day and ideal for an outing!
