Oyama tour

2014.10.25

Ramen shop “Morris” in Oyama, Itabashi ward.

Rice cracker shop, “Senyu”.

oyamatour03

Happy Road Oyama

Transforming Masterpieces

2014.10.18

I went to NEZU MUSEUM in Aoyama to see the exhibition “Transforming Masterpieces: A Collector’s Love Seen in Art”.
You’ll find approximately 100 works, including four designated as National Treasures and 33 designated as Important Cultural Properties. This exhibition focuses on art works that were changed by their owners, including military generals and tea masters of the past, revealing their deep affection for the works, and at times, even a surprising degree of creativity. Especialy, I was so much interested in Kintsugi work (Kintsugi is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a lacquer resin sprinkled with powdered gold (silver, tin and brass as well) ‘cause I’m learning myself.
It’s really good to know how wonderful thing to use precious things with great care and love.

Mushrooms and chestnuts

2014.10.05

Chestnuts and many kinds of mushrooms displayed at the grocery store.
So exiting to think about menu using these seasonal ingredients.
I made mushroom and chestnut soup and meat-stuffed shiitake mushroom today.

Mushroom and chestnut soup>
Boil chestnuts for about 20- 30minutes.

Cut a chestnut in half and dig out the inside with a spoon while it is hot.

Clean up mushrooms with a paper towel and cut in half.

Put chicken broth soup in a heavy pan. Add mushrooms, sea salt, salted rice malt and cook about 20 minutes.

Turn off the heat and add boiled chestnuts and a little fresh cream.

Put ⑤soup into a blender and process until smooth.

Put soup back in the pot and warm it up. Ladle soup into a bowl and add more chestnuts!

And here is meat-stuffed shiitake mushroom.
    Big fresh shiitake mushrooms!

Chopped finely the steams of the shiitake, carrot, and put them in the ground pork and season with salted rice malt and Japanese pepper and add egg. Also add grated Koyadofu (freeze-dried been curd) to make it jucy. Steam and roast with sake in fry pan.
    shiitake02
Squeeze citrus sudachi and eat it! Oishi~♪
