青山の根津美術館で開催中の新創開館5周年記念特別展「名画を切り、名器を継ぐ　美術にみる愛蔵のかたち」に行ってきた。
国宝４件、重要文化財３５件を含む約１００件の名品が展示されている。

長い間人から人へと受け継がれてきた作品達。
よほど気に入っていたのか傷んだ部分を切り取り、まだ綺麗な部分だけを表装した作品、御家の事情などで１つの作品を分割した驚くような職人技、破損だけで なく大きさを小さくするためになのか、わざわざ十文字に器を切断し漆で継いだ茶碗など、どれも物に対する「人の思い」が伝わりとても面白かった。

自分がモノを売る仕事をしているからか、モノの価値についてよく考える。
要るか要らないかという単純なものではなく、金額の大小でもなく、自分の気に入った物を大切に使うことは、心や生活を豊かにすると思う。

I went to NEZU MUSEUM in Aoyama to see the exhibition “Transforming Masterpieces: A Collector’s Love Seen in Art”.
You’ll find approximately 100 works, including four designated as National Treasures and 33 designated as Important Cultural Properties. This exhibition focuses on art works that were changed by their owners, including military generals and tea masters of the past, revealing their deep affection for the works, and at times, even a surprising degree of creativity. Especialy, I was so much interested in Kintsugi work (Kintsugi is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a lacquer resin sprinkled with powdered gold (silver, tin and brass as well) ‘cause I’m learning myself.
It’s really good to know how wonderful thing to use precious things with great care and love.

根津美術館のみどころは中の展示室だけない。都心とは思えない程の緑。
隈研吾氏設計の美術館本館と共に、庭園散歩も楽しめる。
