Hanami walk

The cherry blossoms @ Shirokanedai

The cherry blossoms starting to bloom..

Thunberg’s meadowsweet

The cherry blossoms starting to bloom in Tokyo.
Hanami is a traditional Japanese custom of viewing flowers, especialy for sakura (cherry blossoms).
People enjoy drinking and eating under the trees at daytime and night 😀
There are many popular hanami spots in Tokyo but so many crowds!!!
So I usually take a walk near Shirokanedai area and enojoy small hanami! I don’t need to get a spot for the viewing! Good!

Squid dishes

2015.03.14

Even though it is March now, it still chilly and needs a down-jacket in Tokyo.
But I can find some spring flowers around my area and feel early spring!
I found a fresh squid at the fish store. Made squid dishes with my friend.
Squid ink pasta, field mustard and green peas salad and grilled shiitake & squid with garlic (no photo). Good Pinot Noir!

Anko sensei

2015.03.08

My friend came back temporarily to Tokyo from Paris for while. She loves Anko (sweet red beans paste). I made Ogura toast (toast with anko paste) before but she said paste was too thin and was NOT good balance to make a satisfying Ogura toast. Needed more anko almost same thickness of bread.
So this is revenge for me. She showed me how much anko should be put on the toast this time. I learned the right volume for that… Anko sensei satisfied the ogura bagle toast this time!!
