水茄子の贈り物 ”Mizu-nasu” (eggplant) present

友人から水茄子の浅漬けが送られてきた。
水茄子の本場、大阪・泉州のものである。丁寧に１個１個梱包された姿がまぶしい。
今や都内のスーパーでも手に入るようになったが、やはり本場のものは格が違う（ように見える）。
露地ものは来月から出荷が始まるようだ。
へたを取り、手で割くと中はたっぷり水分が含まれている。
生の水茄子も美味しいが、糠の力でより甘く、深い味わいになっている。
白いご飯にも、お酒にも（殆ど飲めないが）、合いますなぁ・・・。
Mizu-nasu is a kind of the eggplant and have been cultivated in Senshu, a southwestern part of Osaka Prefecture.
You can find fresh mizu-nasu from May if it’s grown in a greenhouse. This time, I’ve received mizu-nasu pickles.
Mizu-nasu includes water more than other eggplant, and water drips when you grasp it by hand.
So even they are pickles, they are still very juicy! Salt and rice bran brought out the eggplant’s natural sweetness.
